Great family stay with teenagers, close to tube

Nice large hotel, lovely staff, great choice of breakfast, could check luggage into storage area for the day

We were on half board and the choice was quite limited, no pizzas on child or adult menu. Half board choice of menu at Hilton Olympia had a lot more choices

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Repeated Failures and Unfulfilled Compensation

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Repeated Failures and Unfulfilled Compensation My family and I booked an eight-night stay at Hilton London at a total cost of approximately £5,000. Given the Hilton name, the price of our stay, and the hotel’s rating at the time of booking, we expected a comfortable and professionally managed experience. Unfortunately, our stay was affected by a series of serious problems. After only two nights, we were forced to change rooms because of a water leak in the bathroom. Unfortunately, the replacement room had a serious air-conditioning problem. We reported it immediately and were repeatedly assured that it would be resolved, but the air conditioning remained inoperative throughout the night. Fans were eventually provided, but only after a considerable delay, and they were clearly not an adequate substitute for functioning air conditioning. This was particularly concerning because my wife has a medical condition that makes her especially sensitive to heat, and she was significantly affected by the conditions in the room. As the problem continued, we were forced to relocate for a second time, causing further disruption and loss of valuable holiday time. The hotel manager personally inspected the room, confirmed the excessive heat and unpleasant odour, and agreed that relocation was necessary. In addition to these room-related problems, I was subjected to inappropriate and offensive language from a member of the restaurant management team in front of my wife and children. An apology was subsequently offered, which I accepted, but this type of behaviour should never occur in a hotel, particularly one operating under the Hilton name. These were not minor or isolated inconveniences. They were a succession of service failures that caused repeated disruption, unnecessary stress, and a significant loss of enjoyment during what was supposed to be a carefully planned family holiday.

To its credit, the hotel management acknowledged the seriousness of the situation during our stay and expressly agreed to provide a 50% discount on two nights. We accepted this in good faith as a reasonable attempt to resolve the matter amicably. However, despite this clear commitment, the agreed compensation has never been applied. There was also a separate billing issue: my card was charged twice for the same booking on 15 July. Although the duplicate charge was subsequently addressed, the handling of the transaction created further unnecessary inconvenience and confusion. What I find particularly disappointing is what happened after we returned home. Despite several follow-up emails, the hotel has failed to respond or honour the compensation that its management explicitly promised. It is difficult to understand how a hotel can acknowledge serious shortcomings, apologise, agree on compensation with a guest, and then simply ignore subsequent correspondence. When I made my reservation in July 2026, the hotel had a rating of approximately 8.5. It has since fallen to around 7.5. Based on our experience, I sincerely hope senior management takes the recent guest feedback seriously and makes meaningful improvements. If problems of this nature are not properly addressed, they will inevitably damage guests’ confidence and the hotel’s reputation. I am not asking for anything unreasonable. I am simply asking Hilton to honour the commitment its own management made and refund the approximately £600 that remains due to me. For a stay costing approximately £5,000, involving two room relocations, a water leak, a night without functioning air conditioning, inappropriate conduct from a member of management, a duplicate card charge, and an agreed compensation that remains unpaid, this experience fell far below the standard we expected from Hilton.
